Your Ideas are Flying Away: the Southbank Airport

South bank is a magnet of the magnificent; Gitta Gschwendtner’s installation (summer 2011) was no exception.

Poems written by artists from refugee backgrounds are flying towards a blue sky, their words travelling away with every person that reads them.

An homage to the classic 1951 Lion and Unicorn Pavillion piece (ceramic birds flying away to represent migration and freedom of speech), this piece now seems more relevant than ever.

Love,

G
